Kohei Kubota, JICA Web Computing Consultant

Kohei is a volunteer with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) consulting for 2 years with the Azuero Eco Foundation. He was born in Yokohama City, Japan. He graduated from the Economics department at Kochi University, and has worked at various companies over the past 15 years in developing corporate systems, web page programming and design, and making digital designs for schools. With the Azuero Eco Foundation, he is working to improve this website and social network communication through enhancing the capacity and knowledge of the AEP team.

Vicente Vásquez, Volunteer of the Reforestation Team

Vicente VásquezVicente is a native of the city of Chitré, a graduate of the Soyuz Bilingual School in bachelor of science. He is currently studying for environmental studies at the University of the Ozarks AR, USA. He has done multiple practices with the Azuero Eco Foundation. In the past he participated in the National Public Speaking contest, representing the province of Herrera. He has collaborated and formed part of the group of young leaders for the management of watersheds of CATHALAC. Additionally, Vicente is a muralist and likes extreme sports.

Roxana García, Volunteer in Reforestation

Roxana GarciaHe was born in the province of Los Santos district of Macaracas province of Panama, attended his primary studies at the school of La Peña district of San Carlos and at the school of Buena Vista district of Chame, completed his secondary studies at Dr. Harmodio Arias school Madrid, district of Chame.

It is in the thesis phase of the Degree in Environmental Biology, basing its theme on snakes and geographic information systems.

Currently working with the Azuero Eco Foundation in reforestation processes and monitoring of reforested areas.

Cristina Barber Alvarez-Buylla, Researcher in Ecological Restoration

Cristina Barber Alvarez-BuyllaCristina tiene un máster en Conservación Forestal y de naturaleza por la Universidad de Wageningen y una licenciatura en Ciencias Ambientales por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Actualmente, está cursando su doctorado en Ecología, Evolución y Comportamiento en la Universidad Estatal de Boise.

Su investigación se centra en modelar la segunda regeneración forestal a escala paisajística para informar los planes de restauración de las organizaciones, como la restauración que está llevando a cabo Pro Eco Azuero.

Ha colaborado con el Instituto Boliviano de Investigación Forestal y más tarde fue pasante y becaria en el Instituto Smithsoniano de Investigaciones Tropicales.

Desde 2018 ha realizado investigaciones en colaboración con los proyectos de restauración de Pro Eco Azuero, y actualmente trabaja con la fundación para capturar dinámicas socioecológicas relacionadas con la restauración en Azuero.

En su tiempo libre, Cristina disfruta leyendo, haciendo senderismo, dibujando y acampando.
