A team of staff and volunteers from the Azuero Earth Project emphasized the importance of conservation on the peninsula at the Azuero Peninsula International Fair (April 26-May 6, 2012) and Terra Expo (June 9-10, 2012). AEP Youth Volunteers involved children in spider monkey activities that highlight the importance of dry forest conservation and showcased the Azuero Environmental Regional map, the first map brochure to highlight all of the region’s protected areas and offer a detailed view of the small rural towns and roads of the peninsula. Visitors to the AEP booths at these events ranged from residents of the peninsula (Pesé, Chitré, Los Santos, Pedasí, Tonosí) to other Panamanian residents and international visitors.
